School Council minutes- 6.10.2015

Present: Miss Barker, Mrs Lofty, Zach, Lauren, Fiat, Jess,  Mae, Thomas, Daisy, Sam, Sekani, Desnee-Rose, Harry

Apologies: Scarlett, Alfie
Minutes:

  •  Miss Barker welcomed the School Council Members and outlined the agenda for the meeting.
  • Miss Barker shared the letter received from the PA. The PA commented that they were very impressed with the letter they received from Lauren and Jess which asked for a £50 budget. The budget was agreed by the PA and Mr Banwell currently has charge of the budget. Miss Barker explained that Fiat (treasurer) alongside Miss Barker and Mrs Lofty could set up a ‘budget planner’ / spreadsheet to monitor the budget. Miss Barker thanked Lauren and Jess for their hard work writing the letter.

  • Miss Barker asked the Council to share ideas collected from their blue books. Members of the School Council worked in two groups to share ideas from previous classroom discussions about ‘Make a Difference Week’. Lauren and Jess recorded the suggestions.  Jess will type up the suggestions and then the Council can present this to Mr Banwell.

  • Fiat shared with the Council a possible Nursing Home link we could visit during ‘Make a Difference Week’. Miss Barker explained that she would pass on the contact details to Mr Banwell.

  • The council then began to think about the ‘Tuck Shop’ which they will be running during ‘Make a Difference Week’.
The council identified that they would need to:
  1. Set up a meeting with Mrs Mendel to ensure she was happy for the School     Council to run the tuck shop for that week. – Miss Barker to arrange a meeting for the week beginning 12th October  which will be attended by Zach, Lauren, Fiat and Desnee-Rose.
  2.  Advertise the tuck shop through posters, advertising on the newsletter, talking to children in assembly.
  3. Find out what snacks are currently sold, prices and find out if we are able to sell different items.
  4. Set up a rota across the week so that 3 people each day are in charge of the tuck    shop.
  • Miss Barker thanked everyone for their input in today’s meeting.

Action:
  • Jess to type up suggestions from ‘Make a Difference Week’ with support from Mrs Lofty / Miss Barker
  • Miss Barker to arrange a meeting with Mrs Mendel in the School Kitchen for the children identified above.
  • Miss Barker to check with Mr Banwell about possible snacks to be sold at the ‘Tuck Shop'.
  • Next meeting planned before half term – Date TBC

Our blue books are filling up nicely!

We worked very hard as a team!
